SLOW COOKER CRANBERRY APPLE BUTTER

Fruit butters are traditionally simmered on a stove burner in a heavy pot. But who wants to spend their day stirring and watching a simmering pot when you have a slow cooker around?

Ingredients

  • 10 large firm baking apples, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1 bag (12 oz.) whole fresh cranberries
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker. Cook on low for 12 hours. Stir several times during cooking process. Place in sterilized jars. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks or process in a traditional canning process. The fruit butter can also be stored in freezer containers for up to 3 months.
